Each play set only allows players to play as charaters from the play set's franchise for example, only The Lone Ranger and Tonto can enter The Lone Ranger Play Set, and not any other character. Each one requires players to go through a set storyline, which is different for each play set. Each play set can almost be thought of as its own game-within-a-game.
